He made the remarks after inaugurating the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' component of a national tree plantation programme.
On the occasion of the celebration of Mujib Borsho marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced a programme planting one crore trees across the country.
She inaugurated the entire programme recently at the Ganobhaban garden. Today the Foreign Minister planted 100 saplings on the premises of the state guest house "Jamuna".
On the occasion, Dr Momen planted a Nageshwar Champa tree and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam planted a sapling of a jarul tree.
Besides, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen planted a golden tree and the Chief of Protocol planted a kadam tree.
Foreign Minister Dr. Momen wished success to this centenary programme mentioning the importance of sustainable environmental development and balanced afforestation as well as tree plantation across the country in order to protect biodiversity and tackle the threats of climate change as per the outline of Vision-2041 announced by the Prime Minister.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were present.
