“This initiative has been taken to ensure fair prices of goods produced by the marginal farmers,” he said adding that the money from the sale of their products will directly reach the farmers concerned without involvement of any middlemen.
The Minister said this while addressing a function virtually to open a toll-free transport service for carrying mango to Dhaka from Chapainawabganj.
The local district administration arranged the function on the occasion of launching the toll-free transport of mango programme of the Directorate of Posts, said a PID handout.
Mustafa Jabbar said the government will not need to spend additional money for transporting the goods of farmers by the return vehicles engaged in the countrywide postal services.
He said they took the initiative in a bid to repay debts owed to the farmers.
Posts and Telecommunication Division Secretary Md Nur-Ur-Rahman and Director General of Postal Directorate Sudhangshu Shekhar Bhadra, among others, spoke on the function presided over by Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj AZM Nurul Haque.
