The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) leaders have said President Shahabuddin Chuppu has lost all credibility, and carrying on office became untenable.
They expressed concerns over recent statements of the president that have sparked public outrage and widespread calls for his resignation.
AB Party leaders said this in a dialogue jointly with the leaders of Students Against Discrimination (SAD), and Nagorik Committee, held in Paltan, Dhaka on Monday.
They urged to resolve ongoing controversy surrounding the office of the president and constitutional ramification once it becomes vacant.
Considering the situation, AB Party presented several key points and recommendations for national dialogue and consensus.
The party made some recommendations included- immediate resignation of the president, supreme court review, clarification of government’s nature, declaration of a national proclamation, constitutional reforms, and reformation of interim government.
