President Abdul Hamid reached his ancestral village Kamalpur in Mithamoin Upazila of Kishoreganj district on Friday, the first day of his seven-day tour of the area to visit several development projects and exchance views with local elite.
He was flown here by a Bangladesh Air Force helicopter on his first visit to the district since the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in Bangaldesh nearly two years ago.

Later, he went to new dak bungalow of the district parishad where he was given a Guard of Honour.
Also on Friday, he visited a under-constriction bridge - Gora utra in the upazila. The365-metre bridge, being built at a cost of Tk 43 crore, will connect the haors with Upazila Sadar contributing to the area's socio-economic development, President's press secretary Jaynal Abedin said.

The President will return to Bangabhaban on November 18, he said.
