Asaduzzaman was also the former MP elected from Gopalpur-Bhuapur of Tangail and the father of incumbent MP Aparajita Haque (Women Seat-20) and father-in-law of Chief Editor of Ekattor TV Mozammel Haque Babu.
He breathed his last at 4:10pm at his own residence. He had been suffering from heart diseases for a long time, said a handout from Parliament Secretariat.
In a condolence message, President Abdul Hamid prayed for the salvation of his departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
In separate message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the nation will remember the valiant Freedom Fighter for his role in the great Liberation War and different democratic movements.
"The nation lost a sacrificing Awami League leader at his death," she added.
Shiekh Hasina prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also mourned the death and prayed for the salvation. Besides, Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury expressed grief.

Meanwhile, Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Cultural Minister KM Khaled also expressed grief at the demise of Khandaker Asaduzzaman.
