President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Tuesday urged Kuwait to recruit more skilled and semi-skilled manpower from Bangladesh.
The President made this call during a meeting with newly appointed Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bangladesh Ali Thunayan Abdul Wahab Hamadah at Bangabhaban, press secretary Sarwar Alam told UNB.
The Ambassadors of Kuwait and Kosovo presented their credentials to the President at Bangabhaban while a smart contingent of the Presidential Guard Regiment gave them a guard of honor upon their arrival at Bangabhaban.
During his meeting with the Ambassador of Kuwait President Shahabuddin expressed hope that new doors of co-operation between Bangladesh and Kuwait would open in the future.
He urged Kuwaiti investors to invest in various sectors including infrastructure development, shipbuilding and energy in Bangladesh.
Highlighting the contribution of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in the infrastructure and economic development of Bangladesh, the President hoped that their co-operation would continue in the future.
The President also sought Kuwait's co-operation in supplying refined petroleum products to Bangladesh at competitive prices.
At the time, the pPesident called on Kuwait and the international community, including the OIC, to come forward so that the Rohingyas forcibly displaced from Myanmar can return to their country with dignity.
During the meeting, the Kuwaiti ambassador praised the contribution of Bangladeshi workers to the economic and infrastructural development of his country.
Ambassador of Kosovo Lulzim PLLana, also presented his credentials to the President.
Welcoming the new Ambassador of Kosovo, President Shahabuddin said that Bangladesh and Kosovo enjoy excellent bilateral relations.
Stating that there is ample scope for increasing bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Kosovo, the President urged the new Ambassador to take initiatives to increase the import of various products including ready-made garments and medicines from Bangladesh.
He emphasised the exchange of visits of businessmen and trade delegations between the two countries to increase bilateral trade and investment.
The new ambassadors sought the President's full cooperation in carrying out their duties in Bangladesh.
President's Military Secretary Major General Mohammad Adil Chowdhury, Press Secretary Sarwar Alam, and Foreign Secretary Jasim Uddin were present at the time.
