The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on Thursday approved a number of procurement proposals involving development works, vehicles and power infrastructure projects worth over Tk 715 crore.
The approvals came at a meeting of the committee held at the Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair where several ministries and divisions placed procurement proposals for consideration.

Among the major approvals, the committee recommended a variation proposal under the project titled “Establishment of New Campus of Jagannath University: Land Acquisition and Development (1st Revised).”
Under the proposal, first and final variation works for five land development packages covering around 200 acres of land in Keraniganj were approved.
The original contract value for the packages stood at Tk 189.57 crore, while the variation amount was Tk 10.19 crore, raising the revised contract value to about Tk 199.77 crore.
The packages include land development works in the south-east, south-west, north-west and north-east portions of the new campus area, along with development work on around seven acres of university-owned land opposite the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
The committee also approved a proposal under the “Enhancing Operational Capability of RAB Forces (1st Revised)” project for the direct purchase of three jeeps, 100 patrol pickups and 60 air-conditioned microbuses for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
The procurement, valued at around Tk 122.27 crore, will be carried out through Pragoti Industries Limited (PIL) of Tejgaon Industrial Area in Dhaka.
In another decision, the committee approved a construction work proposal under a Public Works Department project for building a 12-storey office building with three basements at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Administrative Area in Dhaka.
The work package, including internal sanitary, water supply and electrification works, was awarded to Kusholi Nirmata Limited at a cost of about Tk 108.70 crore.
The committee further approved multiple power sector procurement proposals under the project titled “Modernisation and Capacity Enhancement of BREB’s Electrical Distribution System in Dhaka-Mymensingh Division (1st Revised).”
One proposal, valued at Tk 117.66 crore, involves the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of eight new 33/11 KV substations along with land development works under Lot-3. The work will be implemented by the Consortium of EEL and FHL.
Another proposal under Lot-4, worth Tk 90.74 crore, was awarded to Reverie Power & Automation Engineering Ltd for six new substations and associated works.
The same company also secured another contract worth Tk 77.61 crore under Lot-3 of another package for construction and commissioning of four new substations.
Meanwhile, a proposal from the Power Division regarding relaxation of experience requirements in public procurement rules for new suppliers and manufacturers by incorporating a factory inspection clause was deferred.
An inter-ministerial committee headed by the law minister has been formed, and the proposal will be placed again after submission of the committee’s report.
