Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus is set to take oath as head of the interim government at Bangabhaban on Thursday night, an official source told UNB.
President Mohammad Shahabuddin will conduct the oath to Prof Yunus as the chief advisor and other members of the interim administration, said the source speaking on condition of anonymity.
He did not reveal the names of those who are likely to be the advisors.
At a meeting with the president on Tuesday night, leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Movement proposed Yunus’ name as the chief advisor. They also presented a list of the probable advisers drawn from civil society members, retired military officials, the media, academics, and the media.
Prof Yunus is scheduled to return home on Thursday noon from Paris to take over the new responsibility, according to the Yunus Cenre in Dhaka.
The interim government is being installed after the exit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a student-led mass movement on Monday. Hasina flew to India, where she is reportedly lodged in a safe house.
