A case was filed with a court here on Wednesday against Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman on charge of negligence over the death of Dhaka Residential Model College student Nayeemul Abrar Rahat from electrocution.
Victim’s father Mujibur Rahman filed the case with Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Accepting the complaint, the judge ordered exhumation of the body of Nayeemul Abrar for autopsy and sought investigation reports of two cases filed over the incident by December 1.
Another unnatural death case was filed with Mohammadpur Police Station in this regard.
Earlier, a legal notice was sent to the vernacular daily on Sunday seeking Tk 10 crore as compensation over the schoolboy’s death.
Nayeemul Abrar, a ninth grader, died after being electrocuted behind the stage at an event organised by Kishor Alo, a publication of Prothom Alo for the young readers, at Dhaka Residential Model College on Friday last.
