Public transport operation will remain suspended from Monday as the government has enforced a 7-day lockdown to contain Covid-19 infection, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
“But the emergency services including vehicles carrying goods, medicines, fuel, perishable items, newspapers and garment materials will remain out of the purview of the restriction,” said the minister.

He was talking to reporters after joining a programme at the Awami League president’s political office. He joined the progamme virtually.
He also urged people to follow health guidelines and ensure hundred percent face covering.
The authorities concerned and local administration will take strict measures in this regard, he said.

“There is no scope to show any negligence as the coronavirus infections and deaths continue to rise in the country. So use masks while going to haat bazars, ferry, launch ghats and bus stands,” said Quader.
“Save you own lives and save your families first,” he said.

He also directed the concerned people to refrain from increasing the prices of daily essentials ahead of the Holy Ramadan.
