The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has stepped up efforts to arrest the two prime suspects directly linked to the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
The suspects, identified as shooter Faisal and his motorcycle rider Alamgir, remain at large.
“We have deployed our full strength to arrest the key suspects, Faisal and Alamgir. Both technological and traditional intelligence methods are being employed to locate the duo,” said RAB Director General AKM Shahedur Rahman while briefing reporters at its media centre in Karwan Bazar on Sunday.
He said steps would be taken to apprehend the suspects even if they have fled abroad.
“We are trying to ascertain Faisal’s whereabouts—whether through technological means or human intelligence. Once his location is confirmed, the arrest process will follow. In cases where a suspect crosses the border, we have established procedures, including an extradition treaty with our neighbouring country, to bring them back,” the RAB chief said.
Commenting on RAB’s role in the forthcoming national election, the DG said the force would act as a striking unit.
“In addition to other security forces, RAB will be deployed during the election. The police and Ansar will secure polling centres, while the BGB, army, and RAB will operate as mobile striking forces. We will perform our responsibilities as part of this striking unit,” he added.
