Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) Administrator Advocate Mahfuz Un Nabi Don has announced plans to complete the task within just eight hours and ensure a clean city.
He made the announcement on Thursday afternoon after formally inaugurating the waste removal activities at Shapla Chattar in the city.
The administrator said the Local Government Division had fixed a 12-hour timeframe for removing sacrificial waste, but the city corporation aims to complete the work within eight hours.
To achieve the target, 1,069 sanitation workers of the RpCC’s cleaning department have been deployed in three zones to carry out the waste removal process. Trolleys, rickshaw vans and trucks are being used in the operation, he added.
Accordingly, RpCC ensured water supply and other necessary services at the designated spots for sacrificial activities. Imams, muezzins and teachers from mosques and madrasas were engaged alongside butchers for meat processing.
Among others present at the inauguration of the waste management activities were Acting Chief Executive Officer of Rangpur City Corporation Rakib Hossain, Sanitation Officer Mizanur Rahman Mizu, Waste Management Branch official Abdul Majid and other official.
