A court in Khulna has sent a disgraced inspector of Government Railway Police to judicial custody in connection with the rape of a woman in 2019.
Khulna Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mahmuda Khatun passed the order after fugitive accused Osman Gani Pathan surrendered before the court and sought bail on Sunday.

According to the case, when the woman was travelling to Jashore by train a female police officer and two other policemen detained her along with her daughter and took them to Khulna GRP station on August 8 in 2019.
Later, the woman was raped at the police station by Khulna GRP police inspector Osman Gani Pathan.
On August 9, the woman lodged a complaint at GRP Police Station against inspector Osman Gani Pathan and four others. Osman Gani went into hiding after the incident.

On January 16 in 2020, police submitted a chargesheet accusing Osman Gani before the court. However, other police officers were excluded from the chargesheet.
