A Dhaka court on Friday placed Workers Party President and former lawmaker, Rashed Khan Menon, on a five-day remand in a murder case filed at Dhaka's New Market Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order after the police produced him before the court around 4pm, seeking a 10-day remand.
Earlier on Thursday night, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Menon from the capital’s Gulshan area.
Later, he was shown arrested in a case filed with the New Market police station over the murder of a businessman named Abdul Wadud in the police station area during the recent Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.
During the AL regime, Menon first served as the Minister of Private Aviation and Tourism and later as the Minister of Social Welfare.
