Benapole, June 18 (UNB) – Three constables, posted at Benapole immigration, have been withdrawn after they along with a local were reportedly detained by Border Security Force (BSF) of India with ‘Tk 12 lakh Hundi money’ at the no-man’s land.
Additional Superintendent of Police Salahuddin Shikder took the action against constables SK Azam, Ruma Bepary and Trisha Biswas.
Officer-in-charge of Benapole Immigration Police Station Abul Bashar said the three policemen entered India without passports for purchasing fruits.
While returning, Ruhul Amin, a native of Sharsha upazila in Jashore, stood by them at the no-man’s land, he said.
At that time, BSF men from Petrapole camp searched them and recovered Tk 12 Hundi money from Ruhul Amin’s bag, the OC said.
The BSF members, however, handed over the three policemen to Bangladesh in the evening, he said, adding that he heard that they kept Ruhul Amin under their custody.
Bashar said three policemen were withdrawn and attached to the Jashore Police Lines at the order of Salahuddin Shikder, also acting superintendent of police, for entering India without informing the office.
