A Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) mobile court on Monday fined Rupsha Restaurant on Green Road in the capital Tk 1 lakh for maintaining an unhygienic kitchen and storing food without proper labelling.
The mobile court, led by Executive Magistrate Sirajum Munira Kaisan, conducted the drive at the restaurant.
During the operation, the court found the restaurant’s kitchen in an extremely dirty and unhygienic condition, with a damaged floor.
Fish, meat, grilled chicken and various cooked food items were found stored in a refrigerator without proper labelling, according to the BFSA.
The restaurant also could not produce its registration certificate, premises licence, health certificates for food workers and pest-control certificate, it said.
Following the restaurant’s admission of the violations, the mobile court fined it Tk 1 lakh under the Safe Food Act, 2013. The fine was collected on the spot.
Food Safety Inspector Aslam Bhuiyan, other BFSA officials and support staff, and a team of Battalion Ansar members were present during the drive.
