Although the number of programmes was limited this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic,
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Liberation War Museum (LWM), Bangla Academy, Dhaka University Film Society (DUFS) and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote (SSJ) were among those that paid tributes to the martyred intellectuals of December 14.

Top officials of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs laid wreaths at the memorials of the martyred intellectuals in Mirpur in the morning. The programme was followed by events organised by other organisations at Rayerbazar, on the campus of Dhaka University and other places.
BSA office-bearers also placed wreaths at the memorials of the martyred intellectuals at Rayerbazar and Mirpur in the morning. The organisation also arranged a poetry recitation event and a musical programme.
Renowned poets, including Nurul Huda, Sahjadi Anjuman Ara, Shimul Mustafa, Mir Barkat, Mofizur Rahman, Mahidul Islam Mahi, Majumder Biplob, Rafiqul Islam, Mizanur Rahman Sajal and Kazi Bushra Ahmed Tithi, recited poems at the martyred intellectuals' memorial in Mirpur.

Similarly, at the martyred intellectuals' memorial in Rayerbazar, Hasan Hafiz, Minar Mansur and Asim Saha recited poems. At the same venue, popular singer Priyanka Biswas sang patriotic songs, while Mainul Ahsan and Shila Rani Devi performed in Mirpur.
Liberation War Museum (LWM) also observed the day with a commemorative discussion event that was streamed on its Facebook page at 8 pm. LWM trustee Dr Sarwar Ali, Shahid Dr Azharul Hoque's wife Syed Salma Hoque, Shahid Sheikh Abdus Salam's daughter Sheikh Salma Nargis took part in the webinar. They also paid tributes to the Ekushey Padak-winning author and Liberation War researcher Rashid Haider.
Cultural teams from Sunnydale School in Dhaka, MM Hoque Ideal School in Chapainawabganj and Tagore singer Rokaiya Hasina Nily also performed at the event, which was part of its week-long Victory Carnival. The country's premier digital news agency, United News of Bangladesh (UNB), is the media partner for the week-long events.

Members of martyred intellectuals' families also observed the day by lighting candles at the Sammilita Sangskritik Jote's (SSJ) event at Central Shaheed Minar on the campus of Dhaka University in the evening.
SSJ president Ghulam Quddus, freedom fighter, cultural activist and Dhaka DocLab chairman Nasiruddin Yousuff Bachchu, Bangladesh Ganasangeet Samannay Parishad general secretary Manjar Chowdhury Sweet, Bangladesh Path Natak Parishad general secretary Ahmed Gias and Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation assistant secretary-general Chandan Reza participated in the programme.

Dhaka University Film Society also paid tributes to the martyred intellectuals by lighting candles at Smriti Chirantan on the university campus at 6 pm, which was followed by the streaming of a commemorative programme on its Facebook page two hours later. Among others, Bangla Academy members also placed floral wreaths at martyred intellectuals' graveyards on the Dhaka University campus.
