Salahuddin Kasem Khan, a prominent Bangladeshi industrialist and development thinker, has been conferred Japan’s prestigious national decoration, the “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette,” in recognition of his significant contributions to strengthening economic ties, expanding trade and promoting bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan.
Khan, a former president of the Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JBCCI), was formally informed of the honour on Thursday through a special congratulatory letter from Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shinichi.
On the occasion, the ambassador also handed over a congratulatory message from Japan’s Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, issued on behalf of the Japanese government.
In his message, Motegi recognised Khan’s contributions to expanding economic exchanges and deepening cooperation between the two countries.
The foreign minister also wished Khan continued good health, happiness and success.
Ambassador Saida Shinichi likewise praised Khan’s contributions and extended his best wishes for his continued good health, happiness and prosperity.
The “Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette” is one of Japan’s oldest and most distinguished national decorations.
It is awarded to individuals in recognition of notable contributions in fields including international relations, economic development, cultural exchange and public service.
The honour recognises Khan’s longstanding role in promoting economic engagement, fostering business partnerships and advancing stronger bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Japan.
