Dhaka, Mar 14 (UNB) – The vote counting in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election started on Thursday night, hours after the two-day balloting concluded on Thursday afternoon to elect the new executive committee for 2019-20 period.
The vote counting started after 10pm, said Abdur Razzak, a member of the election conducting committee.
Some 5,821 lawyers out of total 7,825 cast their votes in the SCBA polls that started at 10am on Wednesday and concluded at 5pm on Thursday.
Former SCBA president Abu Mohammad Aminuddin and former secretary Md Abdun Nur Dulal are vying for president and secretary posts respectively from Awami League-backed panel.
On the other hand, former attorney general AJ Mohammad Ali and immediate past secretary AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon are contesting from the panel backed by BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Apart from them, two independent candidates are contesting for the president’s post and another one is vying for a member post.
