According to police and local sources, Atiq’s friend Shajib fled with a girl named Nadia, and married her on October 13 last year. Following the incident, Nadia’s mother, Nazma Begum, filed a case against Shajib, and 10 others including Atiq at Chauddagram Police Station.
Police later rescued Nadia and, following a court order, returned her to her family.

Locals rescued him in critical condition and took him to Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex. Failing to secure an ICU bed there, his family admitted him to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday afternoon.
