A schoolteacher was killed after falling from a battery-run auto-rickshaw and being run over by another auto-rickshaw in the Dapunia area of Mymensingh Sadar on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Souji Sakhinara, 48, an assistant teacher at Dapunia D.K. Government Primary School.
Shibirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model Police Station, said Sakhinara left her home in Mymensingh town in the morning and boarded a battery-run auto-rickshaw for her school.
Around 10am, she fell from the vehicle while it was travelling along the Mymensingh-Fulbaria road in Dapunia, the OC said.
At that time, another auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction ran over her, leaving her critically injured.
Locals rescued her and rushed her to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
On information, police recovered the body and handed it over to her family.
Police seized the auto-rickshaw and further legal proceedings are underway, the OC said.
