He was 58-year-old Hamidul Islam, son of late Rafiqul Islam, and a resident of Topkhana Road with his wife Nargis Begum and two kids—Nahidul, 20, and Naina Islam, 12.
Hamidul was involved in the cable rent trade in the city’s Shegunbagicha area.

Being informed, family members went to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue on Sunday and identified the body of Hamidul, said the younger brother of the victim Shahidul Islam.
According to Shahidul, his late brother had some involvement in JSD. He had no known enemy. “We do not know who did it or why,” he said.

A van-puller found the body of Hamidul lying in a pool of blood near Kadom Fuara on Saturday late evening. He was rushed to the DMCH where the on-duty doctor declared him dead around 9:45 pm Saturday.

Sub Inspector (SI) Gulam Hossain Khan said several marks consistent with stab injuries were found in his body. The body was handed over to the family members of the victim in the afternoon.
