A madrasa teacher serving a suspension for allegedly engaging in homosexuality has killed himself in Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj.
Deceased Abdur Rahman (30), was a teacher of Charitaluk Darulhuda Alim Madrasah and Shishu Sanad orphanage.
According to locals, Abdur Rahman was suspended upon accusations of rape and homosexuality by the principal of the madrasa on Friday.

Unable to handle the allegation, Abdur Rahman might have killed himself by taking poison in the madrasa premises on Saturday after Sehri, they said.
Later, some teachers from the madrasa rescued and rushed him to the Rupganj Upazila Health Complex.

Dr Nurjahan Ara Khatun, a doctor from the health complex, confirmed Abdur Rahman was dead before arriving in the hospital.
Principal of the Madrasa Maulana Iqbal Hasan claimed Abdur Rahman died of diarrhoea, not poisoning, and a death certificate will be taken from the upazila health complex to this effect.

He admitted the suspension of Abdur Rahman by the administrative council of the madrasa on allegations of homosexuality.
President of the administrative council Hasan Ashkari’s phone was found switched off despite several attempts by this correspondent to get through before filing this report.
