Dhaka, Dec 18 (UNB) – An Arts and Crafts Fair, organised by ‘Society for the Welfare of Autistic Children’ (SWAC), was held in the city on Tuesday.
The programme, marking the International Day of Persons with Disability, and the Victory Day, took place at its premises.
Md Zillar Rahman, secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, attended the programme as its chief guest, SWAC said in a press release.
Its Chairperson Subarna Chakma presided over the event. Invited guests, students and their parents, and teachers of SWAC also took part in the programme.
Formed on February 3, 2000, by a group of parents of individuals with autism, SWAC is a non-profit, non-government, non-political and voluntary organisation, according to its website.
Its goal is to educate and train individuals with autism to develop to their fullest potential and improve the quality of their lives.
