A Kuwait expatriate, Lutfur Rahman, on Sunday accused Md. Nayan Mollah, a local Jatiyotabadi Swechchhasebak Dal leader and lawyer, of eloping with his wife, Hafsa Begum, along with BDT 1.10 crore in cash and 35 bhori of gold.
At a press conference at Narsingdi Press Club on Sunday, Lutfur said Nayan-an APP at Narsingdi Judge Court and former student politician-gained his trust during a land dispute case by advising him to make Hafsa the plaintiff. Nayan then seduced Hafsa, who fled with the money and gold on August 3, leaving behind their 11-year-old son and 8-month-old daughter. Nayan allegedly has a history of similar fraudulent elopements.
Lutfur has filed written complaints with the Narsingdi police, DC, SP, District Bar Association, and Bangladesh Bar Council. Nayan’s phone remained unreachable for comment.
Adv. Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, District Bar Association President, said Nayan will face bar expulsion and loss of his APP post if the allegations are proven.
M.R Al Mamun, Narsingdi Sadar Model Police OC, said an investigation is underway.
