Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Nicolas Weeks on Monday paid a courtesy call on Opposition Leader Dr Shafiqur Rahman at his office at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
During the meeting, they discussed Bangladesh-Sweden bilateral relations, investment, post-election developments and other issues of mutual interest.
The meeting was held in a warm, cordial and friendly atmosphere, according to a press release.
They expressed optimism that Sweden's strong support for Bangladesh would continue in the future and that Swedish investment in Bangladesh would further increase.
The discussions also covered issues related to the July Charter, the proposed referendum and the relevant ordinance, the national budget proposal, tax structure reforms, finding an effective solution to the Rohingya crisis and different projects being implemented in Bangladesh with Swedish financial assistance.
The ambassador was accompanied by First Secretary Matilda Svensson and Second Secretary Ole Lundin.
Opposition Leader’s foreign affairs adviser Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Kashem Arman, MP, was present at the meeting.
