Authorities have announced the indefinite closure of the Sada Pathor tourist destination in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet due to continuous rainfall and onrush of water from the upstream coupled with inclement weather.
Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Robin Mia came up with the announcement while talking to reporters on Sunday.
According to local sources, hilly onrush amid rain has inundated shops and business establishments surrounding the tourist site, creating a hazardous situation across the area.
Considering the safety of visitors, the upazila administration decided to suspend tourist access to the popular destination until further notice.
The UNO said tourists have been advised not to visit Sada Pathor until the situation returns to normal.
The administration said the closure was imposed as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incidents during the ongoing inclement weather and flood situation.
