Tangail, Aug 16 (UNB) – A teenage boy went missing while bathing in Jhenai River in Basail upazila here on Thursday.
The missing boy was identified as Hridoy Mia alias Tushar, 17, son of Anwar Hossain of Mirzapur upazila.
Quoting relatives of the victim, police said Hridoy came to visit his maternal grandfather’s house at Bhorpara in Basail on Sunday.
On Thursday, Hridoy and his two friends went to Jhenai River for bathing around 1:30 pm.
At one stage, he went missing due to strong current in the river .
On information, a firefighting unit went to the spot and conducted a rescue operation till midnight but failed to trace Hridoy.
