A task force has conducted an operation against the illegal extraction of sand using machines from the Feni River in Chhagalnaiya, an upazila of Feni. Five dredging machines were seized during the operation.
The Feni Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) announced the details of the operation in a press release on Saturday afternoon.

According to the press release, the operation was carried out on Saturday afternoon near Border Pillar 2202/06-RB under the Allinagar Border Outpost. The task force targeted the illegal sand extraction activities taking place in the Feni River, which flows through the Chhagalnaiya upazila. The operation resulted in the seizure of five dredging machines and associated equipment.
During the operation, Subol Chakma, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Chhagalnaiya, along with the acting Quartermaster of the Feni Battalion (4 BGB), a team of police officers from Parshuram Thana, and BGB members, were present.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mosharaf Hossain, the commander of the Feni Battalion (4 BGB), said that the BGB remains committed to protecting border security, combating smuggling, preventing illegal border crossings, and addressing the illegal extraction of sand from bordering rivers.

Earlier, on December 9, a similar task force operation in the area under the jurisdiction of Majumdarhat BOP led to the seizure of 37 illegal sand extraction machines and 19.6 lakh feet of illegally extracted sand.
