Amid the soaring price hike of daily essentials in the country, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) selling goods at subsidised prices is the only relief for the low and lower-middle income people in the capital.
They are often seen swarming in front of the TCB trucks as if they have found the mythical golden deer. But the trucks hardly carry enough goods to satisfy everyone.
Some are forced to return home disappointed after waiting for hours, while others try to force their way ahead by breaking the queue, leading to disorder and chaos.
The UNB photographer captured glimpses of the struggle of the low income earners waiting in line to buy daily essentials from a TCB truck in the city's Mouchak area on Monday.
