Police have arrested three people and recovered Tk 11.66 lakh from Cox’s Bazar early Tuesday in connection with a theft at a business establishment in the capital’s Badda area.
The arrestees Md Masum Kazi, 45, Mukta Akhter alias Mariam Akhter Mukta, 24, and Md Masum Molla, 19.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Badda Police station conducted a drive at Sea Knight Resort in the Kalatali area of Cox’s Bazar around 2:15am on Tuesday and arrested them.
Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DM PTalebur Rahan said, Sharif Humayun Kabir, a businessman of Badda’s Kumillapara Link Road area, had sent his employee Md Masum Kazi to deposit Tk 15.28 lakh at Dutch-Bangla Bank around 2:00pm on April 13.
Masum Kazi fled with the money and could not be contacted afterwards as his phone was found switched off.
A case was filed at Badda Police Station on April 14, the DC (Media) said.
During the investigation, police used technology and with the help of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police arrested the trio along with the theft money.
