The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has provided five thermal scanners for the country’s three international airports and a land port.
Of them, two were given for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while one each for Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram, Sylhet Osmani International Airport and Benapole land port in Jashore district.
One of the two scanners has already been installed at the VIP terminal of Dhaka airport while four others will be installed by Wednesday, said Dr Shahnila Ferdousi, Line Director of Centre for Disease Control (CDC) at the DGHS.
On Monday last, the archway of the lone thermal scanner at Dhaka Airport broke down following heavy pressure of passengers.
However, it returned to operation on Tuesday repairs.
