A tribunal here on Thursday sentenced three members of banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 15 years imprisonment in a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act.
The convicts are Ekramul Haque, 51, son of Entaz Ali of Bishwabathpur area of Shibganj upazila, Rafikul Islam alias Russel, 38, son of Murtaza Ali of Sukhdhondanga village of Nilphamari and Hazrat Ali alias Firoj Kabir, 33, son of Abdul Alim of Poranpur in Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon.
Chapainawabganj Special Tribunal -2 Judge Shawkat Ali handed down the verdict while the trio were present on the dock.
According to the prosecution, police arrested the JMB men while they were holding a clandestine meeting at Bishwabathpur on October 25, 2008.
On the same day, sub-inspector Habibur Rahman of Shibganj Police Station filed a case under Anti-Terrorism Act accusing 18 people in this connection.
