He said this in parliament while replying to a question from ruling party MP Nurunnabi Chowdhury.
Farhad said the government organisations concerned have been asked to keep their fuel costs within the limit to reduce the expenditure.
Besides, he said, public servants are being encouraged to use public transports instead of government ones while inspecting work at the field level.
Replying to another question from treasury bench member Benzir Ahmed, Farhad said 3,25,082 posts in different ministries are now vacant.
The junior minister also said over 88,000 new posts were created in government services last year.
He also said the Ministry of Public Administration gave consent to create 88,123 new posts in different ministries/departments and offices from January 1 to December 30, 2019.
Farhad also said some vacant posts could not be filled in due time for various reasons, including pending cases with court, incompletion of recruitment process and for lack of qualified candidates for promotion.
Meanwhile, Law Minister Anisul Huq said the government has taken various steps like increasing the number of judges and court rooms, to reduce the pending cases and expedite the trial process.
He came up with the remarks in reply to a question from BNP MP GM Siraj.
