Export and import activities through Benapole land port have remained suspended since Wednesday morning due to the government holiday marking Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
However, movement of passport-holding passengers between Bangladesh and India has continued as usual, said Acting Director of Benapole land port Ruhul Amin.
Aminul Haque, vice-president of the Benapole Port Importers and Exporters Association, said all import and export activities between Bangladesh and India through the port were suspended on Wednesday due to the public holiday.
Import-export activities, along with customs and other port operations, will resume from Thursday morning, he said.
Ferdous Hossain Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Benapole Immigration Police, said the movement of passport-holding passengers between the two countries remained normal despite the suspension of trade activities.
However, the empty Indian trucks that had unloaded goods at the port would be allowed to return to India, he said.
