A truck's helper was killed and its driver injured after a stationary truck was hit by another truck on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway in Feni’s Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Naim, 30, a resident of Noapara thana in Jashore district. He was the helper of the chemical truck and died on the spot in the accident.
The injured driver is Mohammad Ibrahim, 32, from Daraf Panjaghata area under Savar upazila in Dhaka.
Biker killed in Feni road crash
Police said a tin-laden truck was parked on the roadside at Koska area under Lemua union due to mechanical fault. At that time, a speeding chemical-laden truck lost control and rammed into the stationary vehicle from behind, causing the chemical truck to overturn.
Feni Fire Service and Highway Police rushed to the scene and rescued the injured driver from the overturned truck. He was later admitted to the Feni 250-bed General Hospital for treatment.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Feni General Hospital Rokun-ud-Doula said, “Injured Ibrahim is receiving treatment at the hospital. He is out of danger.”
Fazilpur Highway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI), Md Shahidul Islam, said the damaged trucks were seized and kept in police custody.
He added that after the initial inquest, the deceased helper's body was sent to the morgue for autopsy.
