Two minor girls drowned in a pond at Shuktigachha village in Naogaon’s Atrai upazila on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Halima and Habiba, two-year old twin daughters of Motahar Hossain of the village.
Md Moslem Uddin, officer-in-charge of Atrai Police Station, said the incident took place around 6 pm when the toddlers were playing next to a nearby pond.
At one stage, they fell into the pond and went missing.
Locals eventually recovered their lifeless bodies from the pond.
