A group of unidentified arsonists torched two buses in Rajshahi's Puthia and Godagari upazila on Sunday during the 48-hour hartal called by BNP, Jamaat and like-minded opposition parties.
No casualties were reported.
Saidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Puthia Police Station, said a bus carrying workers of a private company went to Taherpur of Bagmara upazila from Natore on Sunday night. When returning around 9:30 pm, miscreants hurled petrol bombs at the moving bus near Dhopapara area and escaped.

On information, two firefighting units from Puthia fire station rushed to the spot and doused the blaze, said Talha bin Zashim, station officer of the Fire Service Headquarters (media cell).
In another incident, a bus of Shimu Noor Taj Paribahan was torched by some unidentified miscreants in Godagari upazila.
The incident took place on the Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway’s Udpur area around 5:30 pm on Sunday, said Abdul Motin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Godagari Police Station.

Eyewitnesses said four men on two bikes wearing helmets threw petrol bombs at the moving Chapainawabganj-bound bus and fled.
Firefighters went to the spot and tamed the blaze, added the OC.
No casualties were reported, as the passengers got down quickly after the driver stopped the bus.
