Two people died in separate incidents in Chandpur on Thursday, one after being run over by a train and another allegedly by suicide.
A man, around 55, whose identity could not immediately be known, was killed after being run over by a Sagarika Express train in South Tarpur Chandi area of Chandpur Sadar around 2:30pm.
Police recovered the body and informed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to help identify him, said Chandpur Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rajib Kar.
Meanwhile, police recovered the hanging body of Ershad Ullah, 45, an autorickshaw driver, from a coconut tree beside a road in Srirampur village of Kachua upazila around noon.
Family members said Ershad had been suffering from mental health problems since sustaining serious injuries in a road accident two years ago. He left home on Wednesday and did not return.
Kachua Police OC Md Azizul Islam said police recovered the body and prepared an inquest report. Legal procedures were underway before handing over the body to the family.
