Dhaka, Oct 21 (UNB) - Planning Minister MA Mannan on Monday urged the young generation to use social media platforms, especially Facebook and YouTube, carefully as various rumours spread through those.
He made the call while speaking at the 18th founding anniversary programme of national daily Anupama at a city hotel.
The minister said the information and communication sector saw a radical change in the last several years and there is no barrier to publishing any information in media now.
He, however, underscored the need for remaining alert so that there is no compromise with the motherland.
"Once we couldn’t focus on our own culture following the colonial rule. Time has come now to expose ourselves. So, you (youths) have to come forward to this end.”
State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan urged the media to publish authentic news.
Nurul Amin, MP, presided over the function moderated by Anupama Editor Rokonuzzaman Rokon.
Former Inspector General of Police Shahidul Hoque, Senior Secretary of the Planning Ministry Dr Shamsul Alam, Youth and Sports Secretary Md Akhter Hossain and Chairman of Bengal Group and RTV Morshed Alam, MP, also spoke on the occasion.
