Vehicular movement on Nabinagar-Chandra highway remained suspended since Monday morning as workers of a garment factory staged demonstration by blocking roads for arrears in Ashulia of Savar.
Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station, said the workers of Birds Garment Ltd in Ashulia area took to the street on Monday morning demanding payment of their dues.
The production of the Birds Garment Factory remained suspended for an indefinite period, forcing the workers to stage demonstration.

Besides, people who are using the highway have been experiencing a heavy traffic jam caused by the road blockade which spread to Nabinagar on Dhaka-Aricha highway and different places in Bypile and Abdullahpur areas.
However, the production of one-two factories in the Ashulia area is going on in full swing amid the workers’ unrest.
Meanwhile, joint forces in a drive arrested 36 people for vandalizing the vehicle of Army and RAB during the unrest recently. The joint forces were seen patrolling in the area.
