A village quack was stabbed and beaten to death allegedly by his rival group over establishing supremacy in Naragati upazila of Narail district on Friday.
Aminul Islam, 42, was son of Abdur Rahman of Telidanga village under the upazila.
The victim’s relatives said there had long been a dispute between Aminul and one Abdul Gaffar, a resident of the village, over establishing dominance.
A group of miscreants obstructed Aminul on his way to personal chamber at Chanderchar Bazar from his house in the morning. They stabbed and beat him, leaving critically injured, they said.
Locals rescued him and rushed to Narail Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 12:30pm, according to the relatives.
Sukanta Saha, officer-in-charge of Naragati police station, said they were aware of the matter and trying to nab the accused in this connection.
No case has been filed till Friday afternoon, the OC added.
