Water of all major rivers of the country is flowing below the danger level, Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) said on Wednesday.

During 24 hours, water level of the river Ganges remained unchanged at Farakka point upstream and also unchanged at the bordering station Pankha of the country. The water level of Ganges is stable, which may continue for the next 48 hours, it said.

Besides, water levels of Brahmaputra-Jamuna, Padma and Surma-Kushiara rivers in northeastern part of the country are receding. Teesta-Dharla-Dudhkumar rivers in northern part have normal flow, which may continue till next 48 hours.

In the past 24 hours, no significant rainfall was observed in the border areas of the northeastern and eastern districts of Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Cumilla, Brahmanbaria, Feni and in the upstream basins of India's Tripura province.

The water level of rivers of these regions and upstream is decreasing.

According to meteorological agencies, the possibility of heavy rainfall in the region and adjacent upstream in the next 24 hours is unlikely.

As a result, the water levels of Manu-Khowai, Feni, Muhuri, Gumti, Titas rivers may continue to decrease at this time.

According to information from Met Offices, heavy rainfall is not expected in the southeast region of the country and adjacent uplands in the next 24 hours and the water level of Sangu, Matamuhuri, Karnaphuli, Halda and other major rivers in the region may decrease.

Meanwhile, the low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining southern Bangladesh has weakened and heavy rainfall is not expected in the south and southwestern parts of the country in the next 24 hours. As a result, the rivers in this region may have normal flow.
