He made the remarks at a discussion on medical waste management at the secretariat in the afternoon.
“The big difference between foreign countries and Bangladesh is that people here don’t obey any the rules,” he said.
No private hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres will be allowed to operate without approval from the city corporation according to section 112 of Local Government Act, 2009, he said.
“We want implementation of the law as so far no private hospital took approval from the city corporation,” Taposh said, adding that the city corporation will make a policy in this regard.

The new policy would have directives regarding medical waste management, he added.
Other top officials of the DSCC were also present at the discussion, among others.
