Angry protesters beat up a young man named Yusuf and set his motorcycle on fire at the gate of Magura Government College on Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred after the man shouted the slogans "Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu" during a protest march in Magura demanding a ban on the Awami League.
Ayub Ali, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Magura Police Station, said the incident created tension in the city, leading to traffic jams. In response, the army quickly arrived at the scene, rescued the young man, and handed him over to the police.

He explained that anti-discrimination students held a protest rally in Magura on Sunday afternoon, demanding the banning of the Awami League. During the protest, Yusuf, who was riding his motorcycle, shouted the slogans "Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu" and then left the area. Angered by this, the protesting students began searching for him and eventually found him at a shop, where they beat him up.
The police attempted to calm the agitated crowd, but as the situation escalated, the army intervened, rescued Yusuf, and handed him over to the police.
OC Ayub Ali said that the young man was brought to the police station for questioning.
