Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan on Tuesday urged the country's young people to prepare themselves to build the nation, calling it their biggest responsibility.
"The time to go to war belongs to those who are young now. This is not a war of arms; it is a battle to build a developed Bangladesh. Ensuring a beautiful future for the country's vast population is the greatest responsibility before the youth," he said.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the "Graduation Ceremony-2026" of the Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC) as the chief guest at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh auditorium in the capital.
He said the training and leadership development programmes of the BYLC are preparing young people to face future challenges.
Moyeen Khan described the training as preparation for the larger responsibility of nation-building.
Noting the role of the youth in the country's history, he said Bangladesh's past is rich with their sacrifices and contributions.
From the Language Movement to the War of Liberation and the establishment of democracy, young people have played a vital role at every stage, the minister said. "So, they must come forward to build the Bangladesh of the future as well."
Addressing the graduates, he said a new chapter of life is beginning for those completing their training.
Alongside personal success, Moyeen Khan said, they must apply their knowledge, skills and leadership capacity for the welfare of the country and its people.
"You face big challenges. You have to prepare to meet them. You have to work for the country, for the people and for the future of Bangladesh," he told the graduates.
BYLC officials, trainers, students and invited guests, among others, were present at the programme.
