A youth was shot dead by some unidentified miscreants in Khulna city early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Tushar, 22, .
Police and locals said a scuffle broke out among several youths near Khademul Ulum Madrasha in East Baniakhmar around 5:30am.
At one stage, one of them pulled out firearms and opened fire, leaving Tushar injured.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty physician declared him dead.
Police also recovered a motorcycle from the scene and two bullet casings from a nearby location.
Sub-Inspector Md Shah Alam of Khulna Sadar Police Station said Tushar was an active member of Palash group, led by a top Khulna criminal who is currently in jail.
Officer-in-Charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station Md Lokman Hossain Mia said Tushar was a listed criminal and faced several criminal cases.
