Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended on an upward trend on Thursday, with the main index gaining 39.30 points and trading volume rising significantly compared to the previous day.
The benchmark DSEX index closed at 5,353.32 points, up by 39.30 points. The Shariah-based DSES index increased by 4.56 points to 1,189.40, while the DS30 blue-chip index rose by 14.20 points to 1,986.40.
The day saw shares and mutual funds worth Tk 576.3 crore traded on the DSE, an increase of Tk 98.5 crore compared to Wednesday's turnover of Tk 479.8 crore. A total of 19.48 crore shares and units were exchanged through 1,843,940 transactions, significantly higher than the 13.17 crore shares and 1,161,189 transactions recorded the day before.
Out of the 386 companies that participated in Thursday’s trading, stock prices for 258 companies increased, 83 decreased, and 45 remained unchanged.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw positive movement, with the CASPI index edging up by 0.66 points to close at 14,880.22.
A total of 209 companies were traded on the CSE, with prices rising for 130, falling for 59, and remaining unchanged for 20. The day's turnover at the CSE rose to Tk 9.10 crore, compared to Tk 4.36 crore on Wednesday—a jump of Tk 4.74 crore. Shares and units totaling 30.7 lakh were traded through 2,378 transactions.
