The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended Sunday’s trading on a downward trend on the first working day of this week.
The DSE's broad index dropped by 14.99 points to 5,181.83 points, compared to 5196.82 points in the previous trading session.
The downtrend extended to the Shariah-based DSES index decreased by 7.19 points to 1156.77 points, and the DS30 blue-chip index fell slightly by 3.28 points to settle at 1908.63 points.
The DSE witnessed a poor turnover of Tk 222.3 crore on Sunday, which is the lowest transaction in the last 4 months. The stock market trading saw a slow pace in the day as most of the stocks lost their prices amid huge pressure of selling. The small investors are trying to sell their stock in fear of losing the gain price.
On the day, shares and mutual funds worth Tk 223.3 crore has been traded at the DSE, saw a decreased by Tk111.8 crore compared to previous turnover of Tk 335.1 crore.
Out of the 395 issues (Companies) traded, 87 advanced, 248 declined and 60 remained unchanged at the DSE.
The port city bourse, CSE, also settled on a downtrend of trading. The All Share Price Index (CASPI) decreased by 42.59 points and settled at 14538.51 points.
On the CSE, 175 companies participated in trading. Of them, 46 companies recorded price gains, 103 companies saw declines, and 26 companies remained unchanged.
At the CSE shares and units of 25.99 lakh were changed hands through 1458 transactions on Sunday. The value of trading shares and units is Tk 4.65 crore, which was Tk 3.85 crore on the previous day (Thursday).
