Trinamool BNP secretary general Taimur Alam Khandaker lost to Al candidate Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Protik) in the Narayanganj-1 constituency.
Golam Dastagir, also former minister for Jute and Textiles, bagged 1,56,483 votes with the 'boat' symbol while his nearest rival independent candidate Shahzahan Bhuiya with the 'Kettle' symbol got 45,075 votes.

Trinamool BNP candidate Taimur Alam got only 3,190 votes with the 'Golden Fiber' symbol.
As per the rules, if a candidate does not get at least 12.5 percent of the total votes cast, the security deposit is forfeited. As such, he needed at least 26,578 votes to save his security.

So, he has lost his security deposit in the election.
